City tour including visit to Peter and Paul Fortress
During the tour of the former capital of the Russian Empire you will enjoy the unforgettable ensembles of the city: the Arts Square formed by three museums and four theatres, the Palace Square and the impressing baroque Winter Palace, the elegant Spit of the Vasilievsky Island, we will drive along the main street of the city - Nevsky prospect.

You will appreciate the tranquility of numerous rivers and canals with their marvelous bridges, the cupolas of orthodox churches and cathedrals, among them are St. I St. Isaac's Cathedral, St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood.

Peter and Paul fortress can be called the cradle of the city. Peter the Great ordered to build it to protect the land during the Northern War with Sweden that lasted for 21 years 1700 - 1721. St. Peter and Paul Fortress was founded on May, 27 1703. This day is considered to be the birthday of the St. Petersburg. The architectural centre of the city is the first cathedral of the city: St. Peter and Paul Cathedral. It is also the burial place of all Russian Emperors starting with Peter the Great.

Peterhof (Grand Palace and parks)
This imperial summer residence is famous all over the world. This town of parks, palaces and fountains was founded by Peter the Great in the beginning of the XVII century to commemorate the glory of Russia.

According to his plan a Palace was built on beautiful terraces that are descending to the sea, it is surrounded with splendid cascades of fountains, parks with small palaces and pavilions. The centre of the ensemble is the 19 meter fountain of Samson tearing the lion's mouth which was the symbol of the Victory of Russian troops over the Swedish in the war for the access to the Baltic sea.

Catherine Palace (Tsarskoye selo)
The interiors of the Catherine Palace are no less spectacular. The so-called Golden Enfilade of state rooms, designed by Rastrelli, is particularly renowned and forms the focus of the palace tour.

Boat trip along rivers and canals
The best way to explore St. Petersburg in a pleasant and relaxing way is to go on a boat trip along the water ways of the city. The historical districts of the city are situated on numerous islands of the delta of the river Neva as it disembogues into the Gulf of Finland in the eastern part of the Baltic sea. The gorgeous architectural ensembles, cathedrals and monuments wonderfully harmonize with the calm waters of rivers and canals.Granite clad rivers and canals, stairs descending to the water, bridges that span the banks are inseparable elements of the city architecture. This trip allows you to see a different aspect of St. Petersburg which is often called the Venice of the North.

The Hermitage is considered to be one of the most important museums of the world. Its numerous and valuable collection occupies 9 buildings including the Winter Palace. Magnificent interiors treasure the priceless works of art of all times and from all parts of the world. The collection that was started by Empress Catherine II in 1764 now numbers more than 3 million objects. Objects that date back to various periods from prehistoric times to nowadays are exhibited in 400 rooms. The sheer jewels of the collection are the works by Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Tiziano, Rembrandt, P.P.Rubens, A. Van Dyck, El Greco, etc. If we went to the museum every day for 8 hours and stayed for one minute only at every object it would take us 15 years to see the whole collection.

Wooden Church
The first wooden church was built in Pulkovo in 1748-1749. At this time, the icon of the Smolensk Mother of God was painted. The church was consecrated by St. Petersburg Archbishop Feodosii on October 14, 1749, but several years later it burned down.

A new wooden church was built in 1755-1757 by order of Empress Elizabeth, and consecrated on July 28, 1757 by St. Petersburg Archbishop Silvester.

The Church of the Smolensk Mother of God, fragments of whose foundation were unearthed during planning for the construction of EXPOFORUM was restored. In 2011, a time capsule was buried in the church's foundation, containing a message for future generations.
